What We Offer

Participants meet twice a month with trained facilitators to process the pain and sadness of their grief.  Touchstone begins these evenings by sharing a potluck meal.  The evening meal is then followed by small group sessions in which participants of similar ages work together through various activities designed to help them explore their grief.

Touchstone provides a supportive environment for children, adolescents and their families who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or close family member.  The program empowers children and adolescents to:

  • Identify their feelings related to grief.
  • Recognize the underlying emotions that trigger acting-out behavior.
  • Talk about their feelings and improve family communication
  • Develop coping skills towards death and grief.

Grieving children and adolescents look to the adults in their lives for guidance and support in coping with the pain and confusion of grief.  A caring adult can help to view death and the painful associated emotions as a natural part of life.  Through its programs, the Touchstone center strives to help children and adolescents develop this respect and appreciation for life.
